In recent years, many water authorities in the state of Queensland, Australia, have adopted Tasman Waters' Brackett Green® Band Screen technology as the preferred choice of fine screens.
Traditionally step type and rotary drum units were installed and are now being replaced by the high performance CF100® and CF200® Band Screen.
A new inlet works was programmed for construction at the Wynnum STP located in Brisbane. Two (2) CF100/600/900 Band Screens were installed in the new inlet structure.
The screens operate intermittently under differential level control and each screen discharges to a separate wash press via individual launders.
The sluice water is provided by the Jet Pipe within the head section of the screen without any ancillary flushing.
The screens have been in operation since 2006 and have proven to be extremely reliable with over four times the screenings removal rates of slotted screens installed at the alternative inlet works of the plant.
The patented thick panels are easily cleaned via the Jet Pipe spray bar and no hair pinning occurs, doing away with the need for complicated mechanised brush cleaning systems that other band/panel type screens require.
